Custom wooden frames to fit your decor…without power tools? Yes, it can be done! Spring is approaching and what better time to freshen up your home decor and add some greens and yellows (or whatever fits your style).
Here’s what you will need:
- (2) 1×2
- wood glue
- hand saw
- 1/2 inch plywood (cut down to your preferred size by local hardware store)
- clamps
- stain/ paint
- paint brush
- stencil/ design for frame
Directions
Start by measuring the shortest ends of the plywood.
Use your saw to cut the 1×2’s to the size of your two shortest ends.
Place the cut 1×2’s at the appropriate ends of the plywood. Do not attach them.
Measure from the end of on 1×2 to the end of the other. This will give you the measurement of your two longest sides.
Cut those using your saw and place one on each side of the plywood to ensure it fits.
Paint or stain all pieces as desired.
Paint of apply your design to the plywood. I cut out a plant branch using my Cricut.
Apply glue to the 1×2’s and attach them to the plywood.
Use clamps or hammer in nails to hold the frame in place while the glue dries.
