Fun Kids Halloween Party Ideas
This is undoubtedly one of my favorite times of the year! From childhood I have enjoyed the month long scary movies, variety of costumes, endless candy and let’s not forget the cool fall nights. My love for this time of year has been passed on to 2/3 of my kids. My youngest is just along for the ride, for now. We recently decided to throw this kids a small party every year and have come up with some pretty cool things. From food to games and movies you’ll find something for everyone. Let’s get into this list of kids Halloween party ideas.
Halloween Party Food Ideas
Platters and Charcuterie Boards
The ideas and possibilities are endless for platters and charcuterie boards as they can be themed for many types of events and occasions. If you’re going for a platter, they can be purchased at most stores in the deli section. All cheese, vegetables, cheese with crackers, deli meat and a combination of those are some of the common options.
A deli platter can be perfect for littles when you want them to have something other than sweets that’s accessible. Dress it up with plastic spiders or mini pumpkins to make it festive.
Many home decor stores sell serving boards in a variety of sizes. I have made a few diy serving boards. Click here to see how. When creating your charcuterie board, you can choose food items that match your theme. We’ve used
Pizza
Whether they are homemade, store bought or delivered, it’s an easy option when feeding kids for any party. If your party is on Halloween, ordering ahead of time might save you hours of waiting.
If you’re making the pizza yourself consider creating pumpkin faces, ghosts out of mozzarella cheese or spider webs on the pizza.
Kids Halloween Party Games
Pumpkin Painting
Painting pumpkins is a great way to start a halloween party. With the proper prep work it’s a fun activity that doesn’t require much clean up. For smaller kids, painting versus carving pumpkins is an easier task and requires little help. Painting pumpkins at the beginning of the party will allow them to dry during the other activities so the kids can take them home.
To take the activity to the next level, provide googly eyes, pom poms, and strings of yarn. Turn it into a contest and allow the kids to vote for their favorite.
Pin the Face on the Pumpkin
Attach a large print out of a pumpkin to the wall using thumb tacks or velcro strips. Using black felt, cut the eyes and mouth of a pumpkin and apply velcro to the back.
Blindfold one kid at a time and have them try to place the eyes and mouth correctly on the pumpkin. The different combinations the kids come up with are sure to make everyone smile!
Eyeball Roll
Using a long table or countertop, tape cups along one end. On each cup add a sticky note to the front with a prize name. For example, one cup may say one fun size candy and another cup may say two full size candy bars. Have the players stand on the other end of the counter and roll a halloween eyeball in their desired cup. You can get creative with the prizes based off the age of the players.
Halloween Party Movies
Movies are a great way to wind down a party or move everyone to one area. You can use that time to start clean up in another area or take a break yourself. Here are a list of movies that are great for kids halloween parties:
- Halloweentown
- Halloweentown II
- Hocus Pocus
- Casper
- Haunted Mansion
- Casper
- Monster House
- Twitches
- Mostly Ghostly
- CoCo
- Hotel Transylvania
- Don’t Look Under the Bed
